Finding Peace

So often, we tell ourselves we will feel peaceful when the pressure lifts, the problem is solved, or life finally settles down. But inner peace is not only a future destination—it is a practice we can return to in the present. In this reflection, I share a gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and step into the perspective of the observer within.

Do you wait for something to change before you allow yourself to take a deep breath and feel peaceful? We tell ourselves we will relax when our problems or daily circumstances change—more money, a new job, a different relationship.
But what if peace is not something we find but something we practice in the middle of uncertainty?
Many of us have found that quiet place within that is separate and independent from the madness in our outside world. When I began conversing with my Observer, my Witness, she showed me how to step aside and observe the mess without becoming that chaos.
The next time you feel overwhelmed, stop for a moment. Take a slow breath. Put your attention on this moment—not yesterday, not tomorrow, but right here, right now. That is where you can find your observer.
Start a conversation with your witness by asking what is happening right now.
When I do this, I often discover that this moment is not as frightening as the story my mind was creating about what might happen next.
You don’t have to solve your entire life’s problems today. You don’t have to know what comes next.
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is simply breathe, let go of the need to control everything, and trust that you will meet tomorrow when it arrives.
Peace is not waiting for you somewhere in the future. It is already here, and you hold the keys within.
