Who were your greatest teachers? In this 3-minute video, I confess that my greatest teachers never taught in a classroom—they showed up in real life.

One crossed my boundaries and taught me to protect them. Another doubted me and forced me to remember my worth. And a few taught me surrender by taking away what I thought I could control.

Over time, I stopped asking, “Why is this happening to me?” and started asking, “What is this here to teach me?” Because even when the messenger wounds us, the message can set us free.

Who were your greatest teachers? I didn’t find mine in a classroom, yet they taught me some of life’s most valuable lessons.

One taught me boundaries by crossing them. Another one demonstrated my worth by doubting me. A couple of them taught me to surrender by taking away control. I learned that control is a function of the ego that blocks my path to wisdom.

When you stop resisting those who challenge you, your perspective shifts. Instead of seeing these encounters as obstacles, you begin to understand that they reveal truths about us.

This is the first step on the path to personal transformation. Instead of judging the messenger or feeling hurt by them, pause and ask yourself: “What is the life lesson? What are they showing me that I need to change?”

Although the messenger often wounds us, the message always frees us. You see, often the people who hurt you the most…are also your greatest teachers because they changed you.

Next time, see the pain and discomfort as an invitation to pause, then view that situation differently. Deepen your understanding of this exchange and ask what you can learn from it.

Every day is an opportunity for growth. Take life one day at a time and think before you act. Let your choices be guided by awareness and through the discernment of your heart. Each day offers a reset that allows us to start again with no judgment, no injury to self-worth, but a fresh start each day.

So, take that breath, allow the pause, and then choose your actions wisely.
